MYAWP

Mayor’s Youth at Work Partnership (MYAWP)

Through our partnership with the City of Jacksonville’s Kids Hope Alliance, the Mayor’s Youth at Work Partnership program provides eligible students with paid internships and work-related experiences that prepare them to succeed in employment.

The goal of the MYAWP program is to build a quality talent pipeline for our local economy by connecting young adults with education and career pathways that prepare them to meet the skill demands of employers while leading them to workforce success.

We partner with local businesses to employ and train students. Each student and employer will work with a Job Coach who will assist in the employment process, provide support and training, and be a liaison between the student and employer. In addition to employment, students will develop social skills, learn work norms and culture, understand career pathways, build professional networks, and learn to manage money.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT:

  • A paid internship opportunity
  • Assistance creating a bank account
  • Paid workforce development
  • Career and job-readiness training
  • A one-on-one job coach who works with our students throughout the entire experience.

If you are a student interested in applying for the MYAWP program, you must meet the eligibility requirements:

  • 16-21 years old
  • Enrolled in a high school, GED program, technical school, college, or university in Duval County.

EMPLOYERS

Business Partners

The Mayor’s Youth at Work Partnership partners with local businesses and organizations to provide employment for students ages 16-21.

A MYAWP Job Coach will work with each employer to recruit, train, and equip students for successful employment, and serves as a liaison between the business and student.

As a MYAWP partner, we handle student recruitment, placement, orientation, onboarding, and more! Our job coaches work as the liaison between business partners and students to ensure the program experience is beneficial for all involved. This allows the employer the opportunity to:

  • Begin creating a talent pipeline
  • Get the youth perspective on the work they’re doing
  • Gain exposure for their organization
  • And give back to the community through mentorship.
